Rio Outdoor Adventures Trip Planner

Rio Outdoor Adventures Trip Planner

Services Provided By Rio Outdoor Adventures

Rio Outdoor Adventures provides all guiding and outfitting including, lodging, meals, trophy/meat care, transportation during your hunting adventure, airport pickup on our Rio Costilla hunts and licensing assistance. You can expect home cooked, hardy meals prepared by our staff. All hunts are trophy hunts and are 1 guide per 1 hunter, with the exception of our trophy antelope hunts which are 2 on 1.

Meals begin early morning with a continental breakfast including coffee, donuts, croissants or pastries, with a large breakfast served mid-day upon return from the morning excursion. Upon arrival from the evening hunt a hardy dinner is prepared by our chef. Food, refreshments and snacks are held in our kitchen area and open to our clients at all times during the hunt.

Hunters will be contacted prior to their hunt so as to discuss the types of meals preferred and/or any food constraints. Special arrangements can be made in advance. We want you prepared for your hunt so as to receive the best opportunity to harvest a trophy animal.

Antelope hunters will be lodged in local motels/hotels in Springer, Clayton or Logan NM, (dependent on ranch hunted and booked) with meals provided at local restaurants.

All hunters must obtain the private land license prior to the hunt and must check in with ranch personnel and execute the landowner's agreement and trespass contract.

Recommended Hunting Gear

Over the years we have had hunters hinder or ruin their hunt by not being prepared for our hunts, so we are offering a few recommendations to help increase your odds of success.

Hunters are required to provide their own personal items such as clothing, rifle, bow, muzzle loader, binoculars, range finders etc. It is recommended that for elk a rifle of .30 calibers or better be used. For Mule Deer, a minimum of a .270 is required.

Physical fitness is required. The success of our hunts is dependent upon the client's physical capabilities. Elk and mule deer hunts are very physically challenging and may require long walks in high elevation and rough terrain. We can provide physically limited clients opportunities to sit on stand or utilize ground blinds, but this limits opportunities at harvests.

The closest airports are in Alamosa, Colorado, and Taos, New Mexico for Rio Costilla hunts. We pick-up and deliver our clients at no extra cost. Contact us for additional information, references, dates and special accommodations.
